We are excited to inform you that P.S. 69Q will once again be holding a school wide science fair. Teachers and their students select two to three class projects to represent their class at the Fair. The projects will be judged by the criteria used in District 30 and many other school districts. The names of the Science Fair winners are announced at the end of the Fair and recognized during a special Science Assembly to be held on March 29, 2018.
A science fair project is a unique way for students to pose questions for which they must seek out answers and to satisfy their own curiosity about the world around them. Projects allow students to experiment, make decisions, form and reform hypotheses, test ideas, seek solutions, and most important, learn more about themselves and their world. Above all, science fair projects are fun. A parent or guardian’s positive attitude goes a long way toward ensuring its success!
NOTE: Parents, although assistance is greatly appreciated, please don’t do the project for your child. Your child will be expected to explain his/her project and the steps of the scientific method. Grades K-1 can use the steps as a model but are not obligated to follow the strict guidelines.
