Dear Parents and Guardians:
I would like to thank you for your continued support and perseverance throughout the year and meeting the challenges of blended learning and remote learning alongside our teachers and staff. We have worked each day to keep our health and safety protocols a priority so that our students, families, and staff can remain focused on learning. In June, we opened our doors and invited parents to come in to our Open Houses/Sneak Peeks and learn more about how we keep our school community safe and healthy. We will post in the next day or so, a slide presentation that describes our health and safety procedures in case you were not able to attend an Open House. We hope this will help to ease your concerns and provide you with more information as we prepare to receive all our students back to in-person instruction in September.
This year, our efforts were to provide our students with the programs and instruction they expect and are accustomed to at PS69. Our expectations for learning were at the forefront, keeping in mind the social emotional supports that our students need, especially during these unprecedented times. We were able to maintain our residencies focusing on our theme of Africa, and after school arts programming through the CASA grants from the City Council. We learned to do things differently this year!
I want to take this opportunity to thank all our parents who responded to the NYC School Survey. We ended up with 52% of parents responding and we feel this is a success given the circumstances. We will review the results carefully when they become available in the hopes of learning how and the areas we need to improve to meet the needs of our students and families.
We have posted information and resources to help your child continue learning during the summer.
Resources are in your child’s current Google Classroom, on ClassDojo, and on our website. As a reminder, you will be able to access your chilld’s report card on June 28th on the NYC Schools Account (NYCSA).
Again, I reassure you that the health and safety of our students, families, and staff, remains a priority. We must be prepared to follow the guidance of health experts and urge you to stay informed visiting the NYCDOE website at schools.nyc.gov and/or our school’s website at www.ps69q.com as we get closer to September to obtain updated information and guidance about the full re-opening of schools.
Finally, we have received some questions regarding our uniform for next year. Although we would like to continue the conversation and consider a change in colors, the response rate to our survey this year was only 197 of our parents and families and the results only one vote apart in favor of white tops. Therefore, we will continue our current colors of white tops and navy blue bottoms for our school uniform and take another look at a possible change next year.

Queridos padres y tutores,
Quiero expresar mi agradecimiento por su continuo apoyo y perseverancia durante todo el año y por enfrentar los desafíos del aprendizaje combinado y el aprendizaje remoto junto con nuestros maestros y personal. Hemos trabajado todos los días para mantener nuestros protocolos de salud y seguridad una prioridad para que nuestros estudiantes, familias y personal puedan permanecer enfocados en el aprendizaje. En junio, abrimos nuestras puertas e invitamos a los padres a visitar a nuestra escuela y aprender más sobre cómo mantenemos a nuestra comunidad escolar segura y saludable. Publicaremos en el próximo día una presentación de que describe nuestros procedimientos de salud y seguridad en caso de que no pudo asistir a una de las visitas. Esperamos que esto ayude a aliviar sus preocupaciones y le proporcione más información mientras nos preparamos para recibir a todos nuestros estudiantes de regreso a la instrucción en persona en septiembre.
Este año, nuestros esfuerzos fueron dedicados a brindar a nuestros estudiantes los programas y la instrucción que esperan y a los que están acostumbrados en la escuela PS69. Nuestras expectativas de aprendizaje estuvieron a la vanguardia, teniendo en cuenta los apoyos socioemocionales que nuestros estudiantes necesitan, especialmente durante estos tiempos sin precedentes. Pudimos mantener nuestras residencias de artes enfocándose en nuestro tema de África, y los programas después de la escuela a través de las becas CASA del Concejo Municipal. ¡Aprendimos a hacer las cosas de manera diferente este año!
